Cheap Holiday Countries 2022

Cheap Holiday Countries 2022

Are you ready for the island again, but this year's vacation is already over and there is a yawning emptiness in the holiday budget? No problem at all, because I'll show you 7 cheap holiday destinations for 2022. Whether in Europe, Asia or South America ... there is always a way to experience an unforgettable holiday and still not slip into the red. And despite their lower prices, you don't have to forego comfort and luxury in these destinations. So sit back and be inspired!

What are the cheapest holiday destinations in 2022?

  • Peru
  • Poland
  • Serbia
  • Bolivia
  • Georgia
  • Slovenia
  • Cambodia
  • Bosnia Herzegovina

Peru

Our first candidate for the list of cheap vacation destinations 2021 is Peru. The South American country impresses with an incredibly diverse landscape consisting of coasts, mountains and jungles. The dream of many South America travelers and backpackers is to see Machu Picchu with their own eyes, to sail across Lake Titicaca and to observe wild animals in the Amazon. The best time to travel to Peru is from June to September. Unless you plan to make the coastal regions unsafe, then you better aim for the months from December to April.

You may have to dig a little deeper into your pocket for the flight to Peru, but you can save a lot of money on site with low prices. And domestic flights are also a lot cheaper. If you are flexible in terms of time, be sure to check out flight search engines like Skyscanner to find the best and cheapest flight for you. Overnight stays in Peru are pretty affordable because you can stay in good but cheap hostels.

As for the activities, it always depends on what you have planned. The Machu Picchu tickets 2022 costs around 60 €. The entrance fee for Cusco and the Sacred Valley is similarly expensive. Admission to the salt terraces (Salinas de Maras) costs just under € 2.50. For a warm meal and a drink you can get rid of around 5-10 €. Means of transport such as buses and taxis are comparatively cheap, which is why you can do without a rental car.

If you want to hike to Machu Picchu, the Inca Trail is the most popular hike to the lost city of the Incas. There are three classic Inca path, such as 4 day Inca Trail, short Inca Trail and Salkantay to Inca Trail

Poland

Not that far away, but still well worth seeing is our beautiful neighboring country Poland. Whether a wellness holiday on the Baltic Sea, an active holiday in the Tatra National Park or an exciting city trip through beautiful cities like Warsaw, Krakow (with the best Krakow tips and sights) and Gdansk ... the choice is yours. But what all types of travel have in common is the unbeatable price. Because of its proximity to Germany, long-distance bus and train tickets as well as flights to Poland are extremely inexpensive.

Overnight stays as well as visits to restaurants and activities are very affordable in major Polish cities and in some cases much cheaper than here. And don't forget the incredibly cheap beer. Half a liter of local beer in Poland costs the equivalent of just € 0.70, crazy isn't it? Since a holiday on the Polish Baltic Sea is a lot cheaper than here in Germany, many people looking for relaxation take the somewhat longer route across the border. You should do the same for them and spend a few relaxing days by the sea.

By the way, the best travel time for Poland is from May to October. However, I recommend the transition months of April / May and October / November, as you can avoid the tourist high season, but still catch a few rays of sunshine. In addition, the prices for accommodations in the off-season are a tad cheaper. So what are you waiting for?

Serbia

Have you ever thought about a vacation in Serbia? Not? Then you should change that as soon as possible, because the Eastern European country is still a fairly unknown piece of earth and accordingly few tourists get lost here. You will also thank your wallet, because accommodation and transport are incredibly inexpensive. Even in the capital, Belgrade, you can count on affordable prices in hotels and restaurants.

My tip: Munch as much as you can from the Serbian cuisine, because it is incredibly delicious. When you get your dinner bill at the latest, you will be amazed at how cheap the cost of living in Serbia is. The same applies to means of transport, because a 1 km taxi ride costs the equivalent of just € 0.55. For comparison: in Germany the price per kilometer ranges between € 1.50 and € 2. Incidentally, the best travel time for Serbia starts in April and continues into October. There are flights to Serbia from Germany from € 30, cheaper is hardly possible.

Bolivia

Bolivia also made it onto the list of cheap holiday destinations in 2021. You may know Bolivia because of the Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt desert. Hobby photographers and professionals long to snap pictures in this magical place. The salt desert stretches over an area of 11,000 m² and inspires above all with its water reflection, which looks like an optical illusion.

The flight to Bolivia probably takes up the largest part of the expenses. As soon as you get there, however, the low prices for restaurant visits and overnight stays will knock you off your feet. Bolivia is known for having the cheapest food prices in all of South America. And that should mean something in South America. You can get a full meal in a Bolivian restaurant for the equivalent of 4 €. At food stands you can get there with just 2 €. And with an average of € 8 per night, an overnight stay in Bolivia doesn't cost much more.

Georgia

In the middle of the Kaukassus lies the inconspicuous and mysterious country of Georgia. The small Caucasus state has no reason to hide. On the contrary, Georgia has real potential to become a tourist magnet. Charming villages, historic cities, lush green nature and the sea right in front of you make the country a real all-rounder. With its proximity to the Black Sea, Georgia is a real alternative to Bulgaria and Turkey. The months from April to October are considered the best time to travel to Georgia.

As for the prices in Georgia, you can look forward to a below-average price level. In the city of Kutaisi, accommodation prices start at € 4 per night, for example, and when you go to restaurants you rarely get more than € 10. As for the means of transport in Georgia, you can hit hard. A trip within the capital Tbilisi usually costs no more than € 3. Even the journey from the airport to the city center shouldn't cost you more than € 10. And the admission prices for attractions and sights are also negligible.

Slovenia

We'll stay in the corner, more precisely in Eastern European Slovenia. The land of legends and myths is just as big as Rhineland-Palatinate, but still has a lot to offer. Slovenia's neighboring countries include Austria, Italy, Croatia and Hungary. All countries that are considered to be the most popular travel destinations in Europe because of their diversity and beauty. Slovenia is no exception in terms of landscape. The Slovenian landscape offers mountains, lakes and even a small piece of the sea to locals and, of course, holidaymakers. The Slovenian capital Ljubljana is also incredibly worth seeing and made for a city trip. My tip: On every holiday in Slovenia, a trip to the climatic health resort of Bled and the Bled Castle, which is enthroned on a lake, should be on the to-do list. And as in most Eastern European countries, you can look forward to incredibly low prices. Flights to Slovenia are available from many major German cities for as little as € 50.

If you are from southern Germany, you can just get on the train, do something good for the environment and save yourself a few groschen. In the tourist areas it happens that you have to leaf out almost as much in a restaurant as in Germany. But in the less crowded regions you can order up and down the menu and you will be surprised at the bill at the latest how cheap you can eat in Slovenia. And the costs for all types of transport are also super manageable. The best time to visit Slovenia is usually from April to September, with the transition months being the most recommended. Except you are planning to relax on the Slovenian Adriatic coast. You can only hop into the sea there in summer.

Cambodia

As many of you probably already know, Asia is generally a pretty cheap area to go on vacation. Nonetheless, I want to give you an example that might not come straight to mind. The wonderful Kingdom of Cambodia is incredibly diverse in terms of landscape and culture. At the same time, it is one of the cheapest, but also the most original travel destinations in Asia. The only high costs are the flights to Cambodia and the € 35 visa.

However, you do not need to worry any more on site. Transport costs for trains and buses are immensely inexpensive, hotels are available at bargain prices and we don't even need to start with food costs. For a huge portion of pasta you only pay € 1-2 here. The best time to travel to Cambodia is the winter months from December to mid-February. So you can wonderfully escape the cold, wet winter in Germany and take a break in the land of the Khmer without losing a fortune.

Bosnia Herzegovina

Last but not least on our list of cheap vacation countries 2020 is a completely undiscovered, but at the same time magical country in Europe. The Balkan Peninsula is a real wanderlust maker. We are of course talking about Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose landscape is characterized by the sea, imposing mountains and unspoiled nature. In addition, the Bosnians are considered super hospitable and visits to restaurants turn into small gourmet trips.

Another reason to go on vacation to Bosnia and Herzegovina is of course the price. Accommodation, gasoline and food costs are significantly cheaper than in other, classic vacation spots. All in all, Bosnia and Herzegovina is in no way inferior to its popular neighboring countries. So why not take an adventurous journey into the secret Balkan beauty? Your wallet will thank you.

That was 7 cheap holiday countries for 2021 with which I could hopefully inspire you to travel despite a tight budget. If you are fully motivated now and want to book your next vacation right away, you are welcome to take a look around my travel search engine. There you will find cheap travel bargains for the holiday countries just mentioned and other great destinations. Stop by and save on travel and accommodation.
